چکیده

The efficacy of four fungal bioagents viz., Trichoderma hamatum, Trichoderma harzianum, Trichoderma viride, Gliocladium virens and two bacterial bioagents namely Pseudomonas fluorescens and Bacillus subtilis were evaluated against the chickpea vascular wilt pathogen, Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. ciceri in vitro condition using Dual Culture Technique. Among the fungal bioagents, T. harzianum produced the maximum inhibition zone of 17 mm compared to the minimum of 7 mm by T. hamatum. There was no significant difference between the inhibition zones produced by P. fluorescens and B. subtilis. Soil application of talcbased formulation of T. harzianum, P. fluorescens and G. virens effectively controlled the vascular wilt of chickpea under field condition.

Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. ciceri Race 1 Induced Redox State Alterations Are Coupled to Downstream Defense Signaling in Root Tissues of Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.)

Reactive oxygen species are known to play pivotal roles in pathogen perception, recognition and downstream defense signaling. But, how these redox alarms coordinate in planta into a defensive network is still intangible. Present study illustrates the role of Fusarium oxysporum f.sp ciceri Race1 (Foc1) induced redox responsive transcripts in regulating downstream defense signaling in chickpea. C...

Detoxification of oxalic acid by Pseudomonas fluorescens during wilt disease condition in chickpea plant

The phytotoxic activity of pathogenic fungi may reside in the structurally simple secondary metabolites, such as organic acids and their derivatives like oxalic acids (Berestetskiy, 2008). The oxalic acid content was found to be an indicator for development of wilt in chickpea. It proved the pathogenicity of Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. ciceri which caused wil t in chickpea. I ts ro le in pathogeni...

Gene Expression Profiling during Wilting in Chickpea Caused by Fusarium oxysporum F. sp. Ciceri

Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. ciceri (Foc), one of the most important fungal pathogen of chickpea, is a constant threat to this crop plant. In the present study gene expression analysis of chickpea roots during Foc infection was performed using various approaches. cDNAs derived from total mRNA during infection process of susceptible (JG62) and resistant (Digvijay) cultivars, were amplified using ra...

Dynamics of Colonization and Expression of Pathogenicity Related Genes in Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. ciceri during Chickpea Vascular Wilt Disease Progression

Fusarium wilt caused by Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. ciceri (Foc) is a constant threat to chickpea productivity in several parts of the world. Understanding the molecular basis of chickpea-Foc interaction is necessary to improve chickpea resistance to Foc and thereby the productivity of chickpea. We transformed Foc race 2 using green fluorescent protein (GFP) gene and used it to characterize pathog...

Co-infection of Wilt-Resistant Chickpeas by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. ciceri and Meloidogyne javanica.

Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. ciceri and Meloidogyne javanica are important pathogens of chickpea. Interrelationships between Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. ciceri and M. javanica were investigated on 53 Fusarium wilt-resistant chickpea genotypes in pot experiments. All of the genotypes were susceptible to M. javanica. Fusarium wilt resistance in one genotype (ICC 12275) was ineffective in the presence ...
